Los Angeles, CA – June 24, 2013 – Machinima, the number one global video entertainment programming brand for young males around the world, announced today that its main YouTube channel surpassed 8 million subscribers. Alongside this milestone, the channel reached 4.3 billion unique views, which can be credited to its range of internally produced original content as well as entertainment-based gaming, film and television content including Universal Picture’s Riddick trailer (launched on 5/15, 4.6 million views to date), Universal Picture’s R.I.P.D. trailer (launched on 4/17, 1.8 million views to date), as well as Sony’s This Is the End trailer (launched on 4/1, 3.9 million views to date).
“We are excited to be able to continue to provide our subscribers with a valuable experience through the content and programming on Machinima’s main YouTube channel, which has shown consistent progress in both unique views and subscribers, growing 30% in the past six months,” stated Machinima’s CEO, Allen DeBevoise.
Using YouTube subscribers who opt-in for updates and new content as a measurement tool, Machinima’s main YouTube channel continues to be in the top 10-20 subscribers and view gainers on a daily basis.
With most of the top 10 channels consisting of music video content, including Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and internet sensation Psy, Machinima’s channel is currently ahead of all three of them in views. Others in the top 10 include IGN, Atlantic Records and Eminem’s VEVO channel. For further context, if the Machinima main channel’s owned and operated views were combined, every day it would be the #1 most viewed owned channel on all of YouTube.
