Hey there everyone, this is my second attempt at a machinima (Don't let that put you off, I worked as hard as I could with this thing) since last year. Last years was awful, and also clashed with some new ideas I had so I went ahead and removed it. I saved up and purchased Sony Vegas, and boy did that make a difference.

But I digress.

Crossing the Line is very plot-driven Machinima. In fact, you it is a plot-driven comedy. We have the very generic 'elites vs spartans', yes, but there is a greater threat than anything ever seen before.

It's name? It's name is Trevor.

The scary looking fellow in the middle may or may not be Trevor... Rolling Eyes HINT: It is.

This is 'episode 1' of a series, but like star wars, doesn't start at the beginning. It starts 20 years in the future, 20 years after THE LINE IS CROSSED. You'll just have to wait for the prologue. We have something on a more grand scale in mind for that.

The Mystery is in the history. 2010, The Mystery Will Be History.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQPrD7jPmkI&fmt=18

The Prologue. Not coming for a while yet though, just to keep you guessing.

Where we are at the moment, we don't have many fans. The episode may be a little rough around the edges, and is INTENTIONALLY hard to understand, but this is a story, since Halo 2, I've always wanted to tell, and I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I did making it. And I hope I can gain a proper following.

This episode may have a tad more storyline than comedy. The text at the beginning is to set the scene, so I'd appreciate it if you watched that too, as there's no action in this episode, well, a little bit.

Also, we go from the elites point of view, as well as the humans, since this is a 3-sided war?!?

So join The Captain, Private Gold, The Elite Legion and every other character in our world, The Planet Foolage, as the story unfolds of Crossing The Line.

Fell free to criticise here or in the YouTube comments, any criticism to make it better helps me greatly to reaching my goal of recognition.

Machinima, if you think this is good enough to go on your YouTube account, (That would almost certainly give the machinima the boost it needs) what are you crazy?!? Contact me, e-mail's in my Sig Smile

Without Further Ado, Crossing The Line.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nHLIwacgCs&fmt=18 (Nearly 9 Minutes Long)

Thanks for taking your time.

Considering it was a load of text that isn't very encouraging, but thanks for the comment, hehe!

While I am no machinima God, I did watch the whole thing and can see you have put a lot of effort in, but it lacked the music and excitement throughout to keep the viewer interested. Hope you take this as opportunity for improvement in later episodes and not criticism. Good luck! Very Happy

Yeah, you're absolutely right. The thing is, I wanted the first episode to summarize and introduce, and I found it hard to create something action-filled when nobody knows the characters yet, and therefore doesn't care who dies, etc.

Posted this on my Destructoid Blog aswell.

It was okay. But i cant help feel that 4 minutes were wasted as nothing really happens. The problem with this machinima is by then i was bored and wanted to watch something else and then for the following 2 minutes nothing exciting really happened. The voice acting was being honest poor and it looked strange how a general would be wearing a fly helmet and in blue and pink with duel pistol.
But keep going and its good to see all the effort you put in.

There's some interesting stuff here, I'm sure with a little work you can put together something that flows really nicely. I especially liked the sequence at the end, with the flicking camera following the Spartan until he turns around and destroys it.

The only criticism I have would be that some things drag on a little longer then they probably need to. For example, you have two lengthy text-based intro sequences (one from a computer's POV, and another from the captain's) where using one slightly trimmed sequence would have been more effective.

Good luck with the series!

Thanks for all your feedback!
I'm taking it all on board.

As for the general, it must be the lighting, he's meant to be red and blue. But yes he's rather silly so that was his colour and armor choice, and we wanted him to be 'unique'.

The voice acting is, against my better judgement, just me and my friends. And they are recorded over XBL, so you can imagine the quality is never great. I want to change this but I would still like my friends involved. One, who plays private Gold, has a speech inpedement [stutter, pronounces r's as w's, etc]. But I think it carries charm as well as annoyance, and for that it is worth it, and it will improve. My other friend [The Pink Guy] is quite good at voice acting but unfortunately the XBL voice messages don't do it justice.

I facepalm at some of my own voice acting, now I come to think of it.

I'm eventually gonna need better voice actors, but for new roles, whilst not crossing the line [see what I did there?] with too many characters.

Also, the guy with the hammer is not a spartan.

I'm not running such a tight shift here as the more professional machinima makers, but you can count of Episode 2 'soon'. Sorry for the wait! Here's a little 'Reward':

Gold: Wait, do you see that in the water?
AI: REVEAL YOURSELF INVISIBLE MAN *Starts firing rockets*
*Bubble shield appears, teleport light turns on, gold still firing*
*Bubble shield goes down, so does teleport light*
AI: ITS SWITCHED OFF THE TELEPORT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REWIRE IT, MR CYBORG
Gold: Not until you tell me what’s going on.

2's Script Is Finished. 3 has no script, just stage directions?!?
Considering upscaling the video to YouTube HD, Will decide whether it makes the video better or not.

That was pretty good, but hell if there was ever a lot of text in it.

Hate to break it to ya, but if your views froze then you were caught red-handed doing the F5 trick. It's one of Youtube's new anti-view spamming techniques.

Or not, w/e.
